Dear Wrestling Fans:
In 2005, “Cowboy” Bob Yuma and I started this website as a way to pay tribute to the men and women who wrestled in Arizona is its “glory days.”
Following Bob’s passing in 2006, I kept the site going as a tribute to my dear friend as a way of honoring his wishes and preserving his memory.
Keeping the site going was no easy task, given that I did not live in Arizona during the time period covered and had to rely on the help of others.
Over the years, the site has gone through periods of huge growth and periods of near-extinction. When the battle was on to save the Phoenix Madison Square Garden, this site received a lot of attention and a lot of hits. At other times, it quietly plodded along.
Just recently, I spent several days moving the site from one server to another and rebuilding the entire site on a more secure platform, in an effort to breathe new life into the site.
Unfortunately, it is with very mixed emotions that I announce the permanent closing of the Arizona Wrestling Legends website. As I said, the site relied on help from those who actually lived in this area during the time period covered. When those people choose not to help, or ask me to remove the material they’ve already provided, it makes running the site very difficult. Yes, I could research new articles and look for new photographs, but that requires more time than I presently have available. Besides, my heart just isn’t in it anymore. Over the years, I have spent several thousand dollars building, hosting and promoting this site; not to mention hundreds of hours working on it. I cannot continue to do this on my own. The resources that I have must go toward more rewarding projects.
To “Cowboy” Bob I say, “I miss you, my friend. I did the best I could, but it’s done now.”
To those of you who have enjoyed the site, I thank you for your support and encourage you to start another site if you think one is necessary.
I may do a separate page as a tribute to my friend. Who knows.
As of now, the Arizona Wrestling Legends site is now closed. Unlike the Phoenix, the site will not be rising from the ashes. Unlike the heroes of wrestling, it will not be kicking out on two. Its shoulders are flat on the mat as I count 1-2-3. Somebody ring the bell.
Take care and God bless.
